Deborah Kidd

Hello My Name Is...

Deborah R. Kidd

Mrs. Kidd

I am a veteran teacher for Beaufort County, having more than twenty five years experience and have taught at Beaufort High School from 1992 to 1995 and then again from 1999 to present. I am designated as a highly qualified teacher of social studies and have taught many subjects over the years including, Geography, World History, US History, Government, Economics, Law Related Education, Teacher Cadets, AP Human Geography, and AP Government. I currently teach GIS technology, AP Human Geography, Teacher Cadets, Government and Economics.

Some of the things I’m proud to share about myself is that I’ve supported many student activities throughout my years including helping found the CREATE environmental club, Interact Advisor, Mock Trial coach, and Academic World Quest coach. The Academic World Quest teams have placed in the local district competition every year.  We’ve won the district competition for the past four years and traveled to Washington, D.C. to compete in the national competition there. I have introduced students to several countries through group travel experiences including, Greece, Italy, France, Spain, Costa Rica, China, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. These experiences have been educational and life changing for our students.

I am an AP Human Geography reader which means that I help grade the exams in the summer and continue to build my content knowledge through this process.

My honors include:  BHS Teacher of the Year in 2011-12, was chosen as National Distinguished K-12 Geography Teacher by National Council for Geographic Education in 2014, attended the Knowledge at Wharton School for Financial Education 2015, and was picked to attend the ESRI T3G "Teachers Teaching Teachers GIS" in Redlands, CA in 2014.
